BaSiCS -- Spiral Seminar Series

Researching case presentations for BaSiCS

This guide provides an introduction to the various resources we have that may be useful to our dental students in BaSiCSsss in preparing for their clinical case presentation.

Proper Citations

Any information drawn from resources other than your own knowledge must be properly cited.

For information on citations specific to dentistry, also answering questions such as why it’s professionally important and why url’s alone don’t count, please see Introduction to Citations in the Dental Clinical and Academic Professions.

View more information on how to use and manage citations here. (Not sure what citation style to use? JADA is the most common in dentistry, and it is based on AMA. While we recommend learning and using citation management software to save you time and effort now and in your future research, if you are in a pinch, this guide explains how to write AMA citations yourself.)

Taking Screenshots

It is often helpful when preparing a presentation to be able to take a screenshot. This PDF handout explains how to do so on both a PC and a Mac.

See a Librarian

If you need more help, we recommend scheduling an appointment with your assigned librarian. Find your assigned librarian here, as well as instructions on scheduling an appointment.

You can also drop in to the Service Desk on the 4th floor of Sackler and see a librarian on call. Librarians are usually on call Monday through Friday 7:30am to 5pm.
