Search Tips

You can search for books about child development in JumboSearch in several ways:

1. Keyword Searching

Use words that describe your topic, for example:

  • Families and Children
  • Infants and Language

2. Subject searching

If you know the Library of Congress subject heading used to describe your area of research, you can search for a particular subject.  Some examples are:

  • Resilience (Personality Trait) In Children
  • Children - Religious life
  • Developmental Psychology
  • Child Development
  • Infants - Development
  • Children - Growth

3. Browsing

The range of topics covered by child development is broad, however most books can be found on Tisch Level 1 in the following call number ranges:

  • Education - L7-LT501
  • Psychiatry - RC435-571
  • Psychology - BF1-990
  • Sociology of children & adolescents - HQ767.8-HQ799.2

For help in browsing the collection, consult with one of the reference librarians.
