About ISBN Searching...

LibX searches for ISBN numbers. An ISBN (International Standard Book Number) refers to a particular edition of a book. If we own the hardback edition and you are looking at the paperback, the library catalog will tell you we do not have the book even though you might be perfectly happy with our copy. How to fix this?

  1. LibX will sometimes offer addtional ISBN numbers along the left of a search screen; you can click on these to search for those versions
  2. Do a title search for the book--this always works, and will pull in all of our editions

LibX and ISBN Links

When LibX detects an ISBN number on a web page, it will turn that number into a link:

Clicking the linked ISBN number will search the Tufts Library Catalog for that item.
