Import Update Regarding RefWorks

Tufts University will no longer be subscribing to RefWorks, a web-based citation management tool.  This decision is based on declining usage, access to comparable tools, and cost-benefit. Presently, no new RefWorks accounts can be made. Access to existing RefWorks accounts will cease in December 2019.

This guide contains information to assist RefWorks users with migrating their references to other citation management tools. To determine which citation management tools are available to you based on your status at Tufts, please see the list below:

Tufts faculty, staff and students (does not include clinical faculty):
F1000 Workspace (nb: You must create your account while on campus, and login from a campus network every 60 days to maintain full access)
Zotero

Clinical faculty:

  • directly send citations from research databases into their RefWorks account
  • organize references using folders
  • attach files to references, such as PDFs
  • insert citations into a word processing document and then automatically format them in a citation style
