    • If you’re not available during those times, please contact smfalibrary@tufts.edu and we will do our best to make alternate arrangements.

Scan & Deliver

  • If you need a chapter or article from a book or journal in our collection, library staff can scan it for you.  If you already know the citation details, log on to ILLiad with your Tufts username and password. Choose either Article or Book Chapter from the left-hand side menu. Fill out the form and submit your request.
  • You can also request scans through JumboSearch by looking up the item you need and clicking Request Scanned Chapter or Pages, which will take you to the ILLiad request form.
  • Note that due to copyright guidelines the library will not scan more than:
    • Two chapters per book that amount to no more than 20% of the entire book.
    • One article per journal issue that amounts to no more than 20% of the journal issue.
  • More information about this service is available on the Tisch Library website

Interlibrary Loan Scan Requests

  • If you need a chapter or article that isn’t held by the Tufts libraries, you can request a scan from another library through interlibrary loan.
  • Log on to ILLiad with your Tufts username and password. Choose either Article or Book Chapter from the left-hand side menu. Fill out the form and submit your request.
  • More information about this service is available on the Tisch Library website.

Online Course Reserves & Reading Lists

  • Fall 2020 course reserves will be online only, to ensure required materials are available to all students, whether on-campus or remote.
  • For students:
    • You will find online reserves in Canvas.  Log in and open your course, then click Reading Lists in the menu on the left.  This list will include links to any e-books, online readings, and streaming media your instructor has made available through the library.
  • For instructors:
    • You can create your online reserve list in Canvas.  Log in and open your course, then click Reading Lists in the menu on the left.
    • For detailed instructions, see the short training video on the Tisch Library website, or click here for written directions.  If you’d like to schedule a demonstration over Zoom, contact Lauren at lauren.kimball_brown@tufts.edu.
    • You can add library-owned online resources (such as articles, e-books, and streaming videos) to your list.
    • If you add a physical item to your list, you’ll see a pop-up form where you’ll enter details about what portion of the material your students need.  The library will purchase e-books and digital media when possible, or digitize physical items in our collection and make them available to your students online.  Note that only materials your students will be required to read, view, or listen to can be digitized.  Details about our online reserves policy can be found here, and short instructions for the pop-up form are available here.
    • The library can also create your Reading List for you.  To submit a request by email, contact Lauren at lauren.kimball_brown@tufts.eduPlease include your course name and number, a list of titles, and details about what portion of each title your students will need access to online.
