Adding & Reordering Content Boxes

Adding Content Boxes

  • Click on Add a new Box.
  • Enter a title for the box.
  • Select a location for the box from the Position drop-down menu.
  • Select a box type from the menu. (See information below for help with choosing when and how to use a specific box type.)
  • Click Create Box.

Reusing Content Boxes

When adding a new content box, instead of creating a new box you can reuse existing boxes in two different ways.

  • Link to another box in the system: This option duplicates the selected content box, and will change automatically whenever the original is changed.
  • Copy another box from the system: This option duplicates the selected content box, but is not linked to the original. It can be edited on its own.
    • Any box in the Tufts Libguides system can be linked to or copied.

Reordering Content Boxes

  • You can reorder boxes on a page by moving them up or down in a column. You can also move boxes between columns. You can even move boxes from one page to any other page within the same guide.
  • To reorder boxes:
    • Click on Add/Edit Pages on the yellow command bar.
    • Select Reorder Boxes on This Page.
    • Drag and drop the boxes you want to move to the desired locations.
    • Click on Update Box Order.

Creating a Table of Contents Box

To create a page index similar to the one shown in the English & American Literature template guide:

  • On the left hand side of the page, select Add New Box.
  • Select the Rich Text/Dynamic Content/Scripts box type
  • Name the box Contents and select top of column as the location
  • Once the box has been created, select (edit text) at the bottom of the box
  • Once in the box, begin typing text.
  • To link to other boxes within the same page:
    • Select the box you'd like to link to
    • Go to the Edit Button on the top right hand side of the box
    • Select Change box title/type
    • Copy the url listed in the box
    • Close out of Change box title/type
    • Go back to Contents and highlight the text you'd like to use to link to the appropriate box
    • On the navigation bar within the right text editor, select Insert/edit link.  The image looks like this:
    • A pop-up window will show up, paste the url into the box labeled Link url
    • Once you have finished that, click Insert.
