A LibGuide can consist of a single page with one or more content boxes or multiple pages with content boxes on them.
Pages are accessed via the tab bar which appears on every page. See the box at right to learn how to add and edit pages and tabs.
Suggested Layout Formats
When creating a Subject guide, please use the following tab names only. These have been selected because they are brief and consistent with what is currently being used and are concise enough to not make the tabs overwhelming. When creating course guides or other special topic guides, please use the list below first before creating new terms. Additions or edits to these terms are not set in stone and should be used as a starting point for further discussion and revision based on future testing.
If you have any further suggestions, please feel free to add them in the comments section below.
Creating new tabs/pages:
Copying a Page
To copy an entire page from another guide:
Reordering tabs/pages:
Sub-tabs are pages that appear in a drop-down menu from a main tab. Sub-tabs are less readily visible to the user and should be used sparingly.
Creating sub-tabs:
Note: Sub-tabs are always listed in alphabetical order and cannot be re-ordered by dragging and dropping. If you must change the order you can do this by including numbers in the sub-tab names (i.e. "1. Encyclopedias", "2. Dictionaries", etc.). This is not an ideal fix, so please use this sparingly. Better alternatives might be to use a index/table of contents format for your guide or consider creating an additional guide for more specific content.
The default format for a LibGuides page is three columns.
This format can be changed to eliminate the the left column or right column (We ask that you do not remove the profile box in the right column). To remove the left column click on Add/Edit Pages on the yellow command bar.
