Writing in the Health Sciences

General Information

Although the intent of many forms of health sciences writing is different, there are many commonalities to consider. At the most basic, you will need to state the problem; describe why your specific idea, observation or solution is important; outline what research has been done in this area;  and refelct on what conclusions can be drawn.

Not matter what your writing skills or familiarity with this process, it is a good idea to make an appointment with the writing consultant. She can help you  brainstorm ideas, structure your paper,  or review how to write with appropriate grammar and style. You may also wish to consult the useful resources on the writing consultants homepage.

Make an appointment with your liaison librarian to get help creating a search strategy for the literature review, or to learn about citation management.

There are many other research guides that can help. The ones to the left are only a sampling.
