SMFA Seed Library

How to “borrow” seeds

Browse the seed collection onsite at the SMFA Library and bring the seeds you’d like to use to the circulation desk. We won’t check them out to your library account, but we’ll note what you take so our inventory is up to date.

If you’re based on the Tufts Medford campus, you can browse the online seed catalog here and use this form to request seeds. We’ll send them to the Tisch Library and you’ll receive an email when they’re available to pick up.

How to “return” seeds

Returning seeds is not required to use the seed library. If you have leftover seeds, you can give them to the library for someone else to use. We also encourage you to save seeds from the plants you grow and “return” them to our collection.

See below for information about how to save seeds. Please use this form for each type of seed you donate or return, or fill out a paper form at the SMFA Library. To return seeds from the Medford campus, please contact Abby Geluso at Tisch Library.
