Bloomberg: Excel Add-in

First time at each Bloomberg terminal you will need to install the Excel add-in to use Bloomberg in Excel.  In theory you should only have to do it once on your account but if it doesn’t show up, follow these installation instructions again.

• Find the company you are interested in and use the function GP to get the graph of the stock price. 
• You can change the dates in the amber bars, for example to change to monthly for periodicity. 
• Then right click on the graph, select copy/export options, copy to clipboard and then paste into Excel. 

• Log into Bloomberg and download data to Excel.  N/As will appear in your Excel download.
• Then go to the PC "Start Menu" in the lower left corner of computer screen, and click on "All Programs" then click on  "Bloomberg", and then select – "Install Add-ins".
• Dialog box will pop up – click "Open" then "Install" (the installation takes about 5 seconds).
• Click Ok when installation is finished and close dialog box.
• Bloomberg now should appear as an Excel ribbon heading in your Excel spreadsheet, if not close Excel and reopen it.
• You will now be able to download Bloomberg data to Excel on that Bloomberg terminal whenever you log into that PC with you Tufts ID and Password.

Each Bloomberg terminal has monthly download limits to Excel that are strictly enforced by Bloomberg.  Limits vary based on market data type.  When the terminal is at its monthly limit users will see #N/A LIMIT error message in Excel.  The data limits will automatically reset on the first of the month.  Please let a reference librarian know when the terminal has reached its limit.
