FAQ

How long does it take?

Articles usually arrive in 1-5 days.

Books and other materials requested for loan arrive in about 5-10 days and are held at the circulation desk for two weeks.

Items that are rare take longer and sometimes we are unable to get those items through interlibrary loan.

How do I find out when my request is ready to pick up?

You will be notified by email when your loan arrives or your article is ready to be viewed electronically from your Illiad account. 

I have never used ILLiad what do I do?

Go to the ILLiad page and logon with your Tufts username and password.  Fill out the new user registration form and you are ready to submit an ILLiad request.

Can I request textbooks, books that are on reserve or checked out at Tisch?

Yes, you can request textbooks, books that are checked out or on reserve.  Please note that we may not be able to get some of these materials.

Where do I pick up the material I requested?

Articles are delivered electronically to your Illiad account.  Books,dvds, and cds can be picked up at the circulation desk.

How long do I have the material?

Books are checked out for 42 days and media is checked out for 14 days.  Users are responsible for replacement fees for lost or damaged material borrowed through ILL.

Can I renew my material?

There are no renewals.

Who is eligible?

Enrolled students, current faculty, employed staff, emeriti faculty, and sponsored visitors can use interlibrary loan services.

Is there a charge?

There is no charge for interlibrary loan.

Is there a limit to the number of items I can request?

No there is no limit.  Please request material for loan that you will be able to use in the 42 day time period. 

How do I find out the status of my request?

Login to your Illiad account and view your requests.

My request was cancelled - why?

Requests are cancelled for many different reasons.  The item you are requesting may be rare or non circulating and no libraries are willing to loan it.  If your request is cancelled you will be notified by email with the reason for the cancellation.

What should I do if my material has not arrived in the average time period?
