Welcome to The Biology of Water and Health resource guide!  This guide has been designed to introduce you to resources that will support your course work. This guide will introduce you to relevant article databases as well as resources produced by major public health stakeholders.

Before you begin you research, keep in mind the following:

  • The interaction of water and health is a multidisciplinary topic.  It requires reviewing not only resources in civil and environmental engineering and public health but also at materials in medicine, toxicology, statistics, urban planning, and the social sciences.
  • Engineering and health are disciplines that apply different vocabularies and terminologies.  These differences impact the terms you use in search strategies.  Reference books like encyclopedias, dictionaries, and online database thesauri are useful tools for locating discipline-specific terms.
  • Both the engineering and the health related literature are broad and include many different formats.  For more on the full scope of engineering literature, see the Engineering Literature Overview.
